NISSAN Z: AN OFF-ROAD TRIBUTE TO THE 240Z DAKAR

Nissan has decided to showcase the Z at the 2023 SEMA Show with a concept inspired by the 240Z, which won the Dakar Rally in 1971. This type of modification is very trendy right now, as we've seen with the Porsche 911 Dakar and the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.
This new Z was built in partnership with Tommy Pike Customs, a workshop specialized in this type of modification in South Carolina. In fact, this is not the first time this workshop has undertaken such a project for the Japanese automaker. Tommy Pike Customs has created several concepts for the brand in the past.
Significant modifications
The Japanese manufacturer went all out with this concept, as it features the same livery as the original car. The Z has also been heavily modified in terms of suspension, and it benefits from a set of tires and wheels specially designed for off-road driving. Tommy Pike Customs chose 17-inch wheels paired with Yokohama Geolander M/T G003 tires. As for the suspension, it has been raised by 2 inches.
The interior also offers some improvements to accommodate certain equipment, such as stopwatches and a holder for a map. This was practical in 1971 since there were no GPS systems in cars as we have today. The car is also equipped with 4-point Recaro seats.
Nissan has not revealed any details regarding the mechanical aspect of the car. Therefore, it is believed that the technical data of the model remains unchanged. The concept would, therefore, be powered by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 found under the hood of the regular version. This engine produces 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. However, some rumors suggest that several modifications have been made, and the power could far exceed 500 horsepower for the concept.
I know it's just a concept, and we\'re unlikely to see such a version in the Z lineup someday. Nevertheless, I remain convinced that a Z with enhanced off-road capabilities could be a huge success. What do you think?
