NISSAN KICKS 2024: A COLORFUL PERSONALITY

NISSAN KICKS 2024: A COLORFUL PERSONALITY

The Nissan Kicks, like many other models in its category, offers a single engine option, a rather understated interior, and primarily focuses on an upscale style and combinations of options that appeal to a wide audience. Its size and design are the first things that attract buyers. Its price is also noteworthy as it stands among the most affordable vehicles in the market.

There are no major updates scheduled for the Kicks in 2024, which is a shame considering the model is starting to show its age. Even though the Japanese manufacturer's SUV arrived in North America in 2018, the model has been around since 2016. Therefore, it's safe to say that a complete redesign of the Kicks is expected within the next 24 months. However, regarding the current generation, it remains quite compelling for numerous reasons. It remains a very versatile vehicle and surprisingly comfortable for its small size.

Range and Price

The Nissan Kicks' greatest advantage is undoubtedly its price, starting at $24,874 for 2024. This grants access to the S version, which offers a fairly comprehensive standard equipment. However, climbing up the range provides access to more interesting versions, especially those offering more flamboyant color combinations, like the Kicks SV. The latter starts at a price of $27,474. Then there's the SV Special Edition at $28,274, which has a striking appearance. The SR version starts at $29,074. Finally, the SR Privilege version tops the range with a starting price of $29,974. As you can see, the Kicks offers several trim levels, and the price difference between the entry-level model and the fully loaded version is not particularly significant. Between you and me, if you like the Kicks and your budget allows, I strongly recommend choosing the version that appeals to you the most and offers all the features you need.

Category and Competition

Similar to small cars, small SUVs like the Nissan Kicks have nearly disappeared, leaving only a few players in this category today. This isn't necessarily a negative, and that's why the Kicks has been able to remain unchanged for so many years. Its price remains its main advantage, and the fact that it hasn't changed much over the last few years has allowed it to remain so affordable.

Rivals: Chevrolet Trax, Hyundai Venue, Kia Soul

Design and Technologies

What makes the Nissan Kicks so interesting is primarily its dynamic and eye-catching style. It must be said that Nissan has done an excellent job offering colors and especially two-tone options. It gives the Kicks a unique personality. Where I am less impressed, however, is with the interior design. A simple glance reveals that the model's market arrival dates back several years. Nissan could have certainly put more effort into improving the style and finishing of the dashboard.

Fortunately, the Japanese manufacturer compensates in terms of equipment and technologies because despite its price, the 2024 Kicks doesn't lack anything. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, along with an array of safety technologies. Moreover, as you move up the range, the level of equipment becomes more interesting. For example, there's a transition from a 7-inch screen to an 8-inch screen between the S and SV versions.

Performance

The 2024 Nissan Kicks offers only one option in terms of mechanics, and honestly, that's just fine. It features a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing a modest 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. In practice, it's more than sufficient for a vehicle of the Kicks' size. As for the transmission, it comes with a traditional CVT. It might not be the most exhilarating gearbox on the market, but it gets the job done. The only real downside here is the absence of an optional all-wheel-drive system.

Weak Points

The interior is starting to show its age. No optional all-wheel drive.

Strengths

It's a highly affordable vehicle, especially in today's market. The Kicks is functional, enjoyable to drive, and it doesn't fail to turn heads wherever it goes.

Signature Element

The Kicks' value for money is simply incredible.

Final Word

The Nissan Kicks has remarkable qualities and stands as one of the most affordable vehicles on the market. These two arguments alone should serve to convince the majority of buyers.
